Colonial Youth Football League (CYFL)
The NYAA football program is part of the Colonial Youth Football League (CYFL). Joining Northwestern is: Salisbury, Northern Lehigh, Southern Lehigh, Palisades, Wilson and Williams Township (a feeder program for Wilson),Catasauqua Youth Football, Bangor Slator Football, Pen Argyl Youth Football, Saucon Valley Youth Football, Storm Football (part of Southern Lehigh).

| Flags: |
The Flags division is considered an instructional program. Children must turn 5 years old during the fall season. A protective soft helmet, mouth piece, “flags” and a uniform is provided. Parents must provide football cleats for each player and mouth pieces. Games are played mostly on Saturdays with some Sundays for the 2012 season. Games are technically non-tackle. Practice for this age group will start July 30, at 6pm and will continue throughout the month of August every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Once school begins, practice will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games will last roughly 1 hour.
Age - Minimum age is must turn 5 during the football season and be entering Kindergarden in Fall of the playing year. Maximum age, Can't turn 7 before Sept 1 Fundraising- Mandatory fundraising will be done throughout the preseason and during the season as well as volunteer time and donations at all home football games.

| 90 lbs: |
The 90lbs. division is a full contact, tackle team that wears full protective equipment. Emphasis is given on proper tackling and blocking technics, player position responsibilities, strategies of the game and teamwork. Coaches will remain on the fields for instruction for the first 4 games of the season. Practice for this age group will start July 30th at 6pm and will continue throughout the month of August every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Once school starts, practice will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games will last roughly 1 ¾ hr. Players will be provided helmets, shoulder pads, practice pants , game pants, practice jerseys and game jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing cleats, chin strap for the helmet and mouth piece for each player. Optional equipment you may want to purchase includes rib pads, athletic cup, gloves and hand warmers.
Age/Weight - Can't turn 9 before Sept 1; 25lbs weight cap (max weight 115lbs)
Fundraising - Mandatory fundraising will be done throughout the preseason and during the season as well as volunteer time and donations at all home football games.

The 110lbs. division is a full contact tackle team that wears full protective equipment. Players will be provided helmets, shoulder pads, practice pants , game pants, practice jerseys and game jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing cleats, chin strap for the helmet and mouth piece for each player. The 130lbs. division is a full contact tackle team that wears full protective equipment. This division prepares players for the middle school football team experience. This weight continues the skill building and emphasis on proper techniques, more detailed plays and stunts on offense and defense, cardio, passing and safety. Practice for this age group will start July 30th at 6pm and will continue throughout the month of August every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Once school starts, practice will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games will last roughly 1 ¾ hours Players will be provided helmets, shoulder pads, practice pants , game pants, practice jerseys and game jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing cleats, chin straps for the helmet and a mouth piece for each player. Optional equipment you may want to purchase includes rib pads, athletic cup, gloves and hand warmers.
Age/Weight - Can't turn 14 any time during the calendar season; 25lbs weight cap (max weight 155); If the player turns 13 before Sept 1, they cannot weigh more than 115lbs.
Fundraising - Mandatory fundraising will be done throughout the preseason and during the season as well as volunteer time and donations at all home football games.

Concussion Information
To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. All Caoches, effective this season, MUST take a mandatory concussion in service to obtain a certfication. NYAA Football and CYFL will coordinate this function and more information will follow.
CPR/AED Coaches Training
At least 2 or more coaches on any NYAA Football teamy must be CPR/AED Certified through the AHA. IF you where certified 2 years ago, your certification will expire this summer. We will be holidng another class laste summer.
Coaches Clearances
All NYAA Football coaches MUST have background checks done before setting foot on the practice field this season. If you are unsure if you clearance is still valid please email us at
