The NYAA participates in the PYL Fall Baseball League which consists of a series of organized scrimmages. Neither official score nor team or individual statistics are kept therefore the primary emphasis of the games and practices are to develop players.
All rules shall be according to the current issue of National Federation of State High School Associations Rule Book, except as noted in the PYL League By-Laws and approved by the League. A coach may interrupt a game at any time in order to instruct a player(s).
All game times will be limited that no new inning will begin after 1:45 minutes and that all games played will last no longer than 2 hours during weekdays unless the game is a complete game.
Weekend games have no time limit. All batters will begin with a normal batting count. In the event coaches would like to attempt to speed up the game, it may be agreed upon by the coaches that the batters will begin with a 1-1 count.
All players on the game day roster will bat. All players may not sit two (2) consecutive innings. During scrimmage play, forfeits are not permitted. If a team does not have enough players to field a team, the opposing team will provide the additional players by sharing players so that each team may have a complete defensive field. The free substitution rule shall be in effect. Each inning will be either 3 outs or a maximum of 8 batters per inning.
